As you may know, the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) is managing the State’s vaccine distribution process. NJDOH has created a newsletter – Vax Matters – specifically for COVID vaccine-related information and FAQ.

NJ TRANSIT has requested an allotment of the vaccine from NJDOH and – although we have not yet received vaccines – we are working night and day behind-the-scenes to prepare for distribution, so we can “hit the ground running” if we do.
- We have purchased three freezers, with backup battery storage and proven settings for the appropriate cooling environment.
- We have prepared two sites, in Camden and Maplewood, for socially distant employee vaccinations.
- We have an online system in place that will allow employees to schedule vaccination appointments.
- We have been approved by NJDOH to administer the vaccine.
- And our Medical Department has a team of nurses, staff, and volunteers ready to vaccinate, as we do every year for the flu.
In the meantime – while we continue to seek a vaccine allotment for NJ TRANSIT employees – eligible employees are strongly encouraged to pre-register for a future vaccination through New Jersey’s COVID-19 Vaccine Scheduling System at https://covidvaccine.nj.gov/.
Eligible employees are also strongly encouraged to make an appointment for vaccination at a State-approved site. The full list of vaccination sites in the State, broken down by county, can be found here.
