Verification Update
Just an update on payroll verification, we have had over four hundred submissions on our site for errors/shortages. They are all sent to verification as they are received, duplicate submissions are not necessary, just send new issues. There have been multiple positive tests in a small department for the COVID-19, and they did lose a co-worker, a 32 year employee Gale Neblett. Please keep her family, friends, coworkers in your prayers.
They have established a plan for employees to work, and will eventually find them adequate space so they can work safely. They will be catching up while working remotely and as more employees are able to work. We are hopeful that we will see improvements soon. Keep submitting time-cards promptly they will be processed in order received.
Many of our members are extremely short and there is a plan in place to expedite those claims. We are also trying to navigate the shortages for employees off for a COVID-19 issue, this is challenging particularly because of the departments involved, we are working on it and will hopefully resolve those soon.
Your GCA understands your frustration of showing up and working either regular assignments, additional trains and times, arbitraries, or relief days and not being compensated. We are working with the carrier to get it fixed now and will continue after this to resolve for the future.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR EMPLOYEES PREPARING TO RETURN TO WORK AFTER QUARANTINE OR RECOVERY FROM COVID-19
If you have been quarantined:
Please contact NJ TRANSIT’s Coronavirus hotline – at (973) 378-6200 – at least 3 days before your healthcare provider has cleared you to return to work. This will give our nurses time to process your MD-40 form, which is necessary to reinstate you into the workforce.
If you have contracted COVID-19:
Before returning to work, you must first submit the appropriate documentation from your healthcare provider, saying you are fully recovered and no longer contagious. Documentation can be sent via e-mail to Medical@njtransit.com. Then – at least 3 days before you have been cleared to return to work – please contact the hotline, to begin processing your MD-40 form.
If you are having trouble getting through to the hotline, please try the alternate line at (888) 890-0729, or have your supervisor call NJ TRANSIT Nurse Heather Capell, at (856) 968-3981 (office) or (973) 558-1687 (cell), to expedite the process.

Employee Message from President & CEO Kevin Corbett – April 18, 2020
Employee Message from President and CEO Kevin Corbett
April 18, 2020
Dear Colleagues,
It is with great sorrow that I share the news that NJ TRANSIT Senior Vice President & General Manager of Rail Operations, Raymond P. Kenny, has passed away from COVID-19-related complications. Ray has led NJ TRANSIT Rail Operations since January 2019 and he will be deeply missed.
Ray’s reputation and experience in the industry are unparalleled. The leadership and incredible wealth of railroad knowledge Ray brought with him has truly made a positive impact on our organization and I’m grateful for his contributions. Ray was not only a colleague, but I considered him a friend.
We’re also mourning the loss of two other long-serving, dedicated employees from the NJ TRANSIT family. NJ TRANSIT Bus Operator Kendall Nelson passed away yesterday. Kendall worked out of Oradell Garage and served our customers with pride and honor for more than 28 years. We are incredibly thankful for Kendall’s service.
We’re also deeply saddened by the loss of Rail Operations employee Gale Neblett. Gale spent a distinguished career at NJ TRANSIT that spanned more than 32 years, most recently as an Accounting Clerk in the Rail Verification Department. We are grateful for Gale’s commitment and service to NJ TRANSIT.
I ask that you keep the families and loved ones of Ray, Kendall and Gale in your thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.
Warmly,
Kevin
